LADS - Lucid Adult Dyslexia Screening BUY NOW
Swift, objective and accurate identification of dyslexia for adults ages 16 and over
LADS provides quick and effective screening for dyslexia in a wide variety of adult settings. LADS assesses phonological processing, working memory and lexical access - core cognitive skills that are typically weak in dyslexic adults despite educational experience. Together with the LADS nonverbal reasoning module, these tests enable a reliable identification of dyslexia across the range of intelligence and experience. The accuracy of LADS has been proved in extensive scientific trials, fewer than 4% false positive ('false alarms') and 5% false negative ('misses') misclassifications. Most other methods of identification have misclassification rates of anywhere from 20% to 80%.
Quick and easy to use
The LADS tests are adaptive, i.e. the difficulty of the items varies in response to the ability level and performance of the person taking the test, so screening is swift and less strssful, with an overall screening time of about 20 minutes per person. The tests can be self administered, thus requiring minimal supervision. Reports (on-screen and printed) are available immediately. LADS is widely used in universities, colleges, dyslexia and adult literacy centres, basic skill centres, learning support units, employment and careers centres, prison education and youth offending units, and for screening in the workplace. LADS is currently used in over 1,000 establishments.
Automatic reports
The computer automatically generates a simple graphical report for each person assessed. Individual module scores are compared to normative data. Indications are given of whether or not the scores fall into the dyslexic 'risk' category. There is ample room on the report for administrators to add their own comments before the report is printed. The LADS reasoning module also provides an estimate of the person's general intellectual ability, which can be important when giving advice about further action after screening.
Comprehensive manual
LADS does not require psychological or educational qualifications to administer.
A comprehensive Administrator's Manual is provided, which gives guidelines on interpreting results, giving feedback and advice on strategies for supporting dyslexic adults in different educational and occupational settings.
